As a junior technical writer in the Winshuttle Product Team, you will create and produce technical documentation to support Winshuttle products. Under the guidance of the documentation manager, you will interview SMEs and test software as you create user guides, online help, and best practice guides that explain product features and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a technical background, preferably with experience in database and SharePoint technologies
  • Have experience in planning and developing technical documentation
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and to use good judgment in prioritizing work
  • Show initiative in learning about products and also in solving day-to-day problems with authoring tools, style questions, and other work-related administrative tasks
  • Understand the importance of following style guides and in-house style sheets

Skills and Requirements:

  • BA or BS, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent writing in North American English
  • Knowledge of MSTP and other standard English style and grammar guides
  • Knowledge of Author-it, RoboHelp, or other documentation authoring tools or single-sourcing tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel as well as with business users
  • Excellent overall communication skills: oral, written, presentation
  • Knowledge of German, French, or Spanish a plus
  • Familiarity with SharePoint preferred
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred

We are looking for experienced, highly skilled, professional, senior Instructional Designers to create engaging, effective, instructionally sound learning materials for multiple contracts for a major client in Redmond, WA. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, self-starters with the ability to provide quality work. There are currently two open contract positions: one full-time (40 hours per week) and one part-time (20 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

  • Development of curriculum and end-user facing documentation
  • Review current documentation and work with SME to incorporate business process and workflows into materials
  • Manage the overall project timeline and interaction with Subject Matter Experts and Content Owners
  • Conduct needs assessments, job, task, and/or content analysis to identify training needs
  • Analyze work setting and characteristics of learners and determine optimum delivery method
  • Define learning objectives
  • Develop instructional materials for Online Training in alignment with training objectives
  • Develop and implement training evaluations

Potential Project Deliverables:

  • PowerPoint and Word Document based Training Materials

Experience Required:

Required Skills:

  • A degree in Technical Communications is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the technical publications job function at a major technology company is required, though an exception might be made for a programmer with strong writing samples.
  • A strong command of the English language is a must. Great written and verbal communications skills are key to success at this job.
  • The ability to operate effectively under deadline pressure and to work well with engineers, editors, and other writers is also critically important.
  • 5 plus years work related experience required.
  • Outstanding technical writing skills are required.
  • The ability to read or write one or more high-level programming languages is required. Must have the ability to develop code samples and applications.
